Christa has years of experience serving medically complicated patients of diverse cultural backgrounds. Her work in Oakland deepened her understanding of how unmet mental health needs and trauma profoundly affect her clients' emotional, physical, and spiritual health. She uses a multidisciplinary approach that explores underlying issues such as the influences of our past, medical conditions affecting nutrition and chronic stress, unhealthy lifestyles and behaviors, gastrointestinal problems, hormonal changes and genetic considerations in illness. Christa values an investigative and collaborative effort with clients and listens to their concerns about hesitancy in taking medications or concerns about treatment. Her relationships with immigrant and African American patients in Oakland helped her to understand their desires to know about safe low-medication strategies for illness; and as a result she completed formal studies with experts in the field of integrative medicine. She has completed a multi-year Foundations Integrative Medicine Course with Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, MD and the Psychiatry Redefined functional medicine fellowship with Dr. James Greenblatt, MD. She lives on the Central Coast of California with her family and values time in the natural world and on the yoga mat as a way to support her own journey towards personal growth and happiness. She is available to see clients in person or by telehealth in San Luis Obispo, CA and via telehealth in other locations in California.
